Updated ACC Standings After Weekend Games

Georgia Tech is no longer in last place in the ACC after beating Notre Dame

After beating Notre Dame this past week, Georgia Tech is out of the cellar of the ACC standings but was not able to finish off Wake Forest (thanks to some very poor officiating) and climb past Notre Dame.

The ACC Tournament is coming up and teams are fighting for position to get byes and double byes during the tournament.

At the top of the ACC race, things are getting even tighter. Pittsburgh (11-3) and Virginia (11-3) are tied at the top of the standings, with the Miami Hurricanes close behind both of those teams (11-4). Virginia got a thrilling win against Duke on Saturday, while Miami hung on to beat Louisville in what was a tougher-than-expected game on Saturday evening, and earlier in the week, Miami did blow out Duke. Pitt beat Louisville and Florida State last week.

Clemson (10-4) and NC State (10-5 ) are next in the standings, but the Tigers have not been playing well and have lost three games in a row, and were teetering on the bubble right now. The Wolfpack beat Boston College handily but were coming off of a tough loss to Virginia. NC State has critical games against Syracuse and North Carolina this week.

There is still a lot of competition in the middle of the standings after the weekend.

Wake Forest (9-6) squeaked by Georgia Tech on Saturday and they are followed by By Duke, North Carolina, and Syracuse, who are all 8-6. Duke and Syracuse face each other this weekend. The Tar Heel have a national television game against Miami tonight.

Boston College and Florida State are both tied at 6-9, while Virginia Tech is at 5-9.

The bottom three teams are the same, but the order was shuffled a bit. Notre Dame and Georgia Tech are at 2-12 and the Yellow Jackets just beat the Fighting Irish at the buzzer. Georgia Tech faces Virginia Tech on Wednesday and then has a non-conference game against Florida Tech on Saturday. Louisville is 1-13 but did play Miami closer than most expected. The Cardinals have a tough couple of games coming up against Virginia and Clemson.
