Versatile RB/DB Kaleb Edwards Medically Retires From Football

Two-way impact player for Tech forced to step away due to injuries.

In a tough loss for the program, junior hybrid running back/defensive back Kaleb Edwards has called it a career on the Flats after a spring injury.

He announced his decision on Instagram earlier today.

Confirmed by Kelly Quinlan of Rivals.com, Edwards suffered a neck injury in spring and made the decision to medically retire.

He came to Tech as a four-star recruit out of Dacula, GA. In his time at Tech, Edwards appeared in 11 games, during which he posted 24 total tackles and 1 forced fumble from his spots in the nickel and safety positions.

He also made a big impact on his 302 special teams snaps, where he served as a tone-setter, and made the switch to running back last season in a depth role. In his preparation for the upcoming season, Edwards was having a strong spring prior to his injury.

Best of luck to Kaleb in his next chapter!
