CBS Sports analyst picks McNeese State to upset Gonzaga in NCAA Tournament
Last season, CBS Sports analyst Clark Kellogg picked Gonzaga to win the NCAA men's basketball national championship.
This season, another CBS Sports analyst is picking the Zags to lose in the first round.
After the 2024 NCAA Tournament bracket was revealed on Sunday, longtime analyst Seth Davis made his region-by-region picks. And one of them was No. 12 McNeese State over No. 5 Gonzaga. In fact, he picked McNeese to go all the way to the Sweet 16.
"This is the part of the show I light myself on fire," Davis said. "I've got McNeese over Gonzaga."
McNeese (30-3, 17-1 Southland) set a program record for total wins and had the most conference victories since the 2001-02 season when they were a 14-seed in the NCAA Tournament. Only three other programs have eclipsed the 30-win mark this season — UConn, Houston and James Madison.
McNeese finished the season ranked No. 56 in the NET Rankings, while Gonzaga finished at No. 17.
McNeese and Gonzaga will settle it on the court Thursday in Salt Lake City. The tipoff is scheduled for 4:25 p.m. PT.
