Cory Violette on who needs to step up for Gonzaga: 'It has to be a guard'

"They need a guy who emotionally and from a scoring perspective says, 'no this is my ball,'" Violette said on Talking Zags. "And in college ... it has to be a guard."

For years, the Gonzaga Bulldogs have been one of the most lethal scoring teams in the country due in large part to superb post play and guards with high basketball IQ.

While the Bulldogs are still one of the top offenses in college basketball once again, a balanced attack without a true go-to guy has hindered them in tightly-contested ballgames against top-level competition. Sometimes it takes one player to take the reins of the offense and make a play that puts the team in a position to win. Drew Timme had been that guy for years, and while Anton Watson has certainly stepped up at different points this season, it's harder for a post player to dominate a game quite like a guard can.

Former Gonzaga standout Cory Violette broke down why a guard has to be the Bulldogs' go-to guy moving forward on a new episode of Talking Zags with Dan Dickau and Adam Morrison.
