Gonzaga 78, Mississippi Valley State 40: Live score updates, highlights
The No. 10 Gonzaga Bulldogs defeated Mississippi Valley State, 78-40, at the McCarthey Athletic Center on Monday night.
Off the heals of a 78-73 loss at Washington on Saturday, the Zags (8-2) bounced back with a strong defensive performance at home. Gonzaga held Mississippi Valley State to 29.1% shooting from the floor and forced 18 turnovers, which led to 24 points off those mistakes. The 40 points allowed was the fewest since 2018.
The Delta Devils (0-10) stifled the Bulldogs in moments with a zone defense. Rayquan Brown led the way with 19 points.
Gonzaga is 18-0 against the SWAC and 15-0 under Mark Few. Gonzaga defeated Arkansas-Pine Bluff last week and will face Jackson State at home on Dec. 20.

Gonzaga 76, MS Valley 37 (2:40): Gonzaga's reserves checked in to finish off the job. Pavle Stosic cleaned up a loose ball with a left-handed finish in the paint, as 10 different players recorded a field goal on the night.
Gonzaga 62, MS Valley 30 (7:42): A fastbreak score from Stromer gave Gonzaga its largest lead of the night at 35 points, before a triple from the Delta Devils' Arecko Gipson on the ensuing possession.
Gonzaga 56, MS Valley 25 (11:57): The Bulldogs rattled off a 13-2 scoring run, capped off by a two-hand dunk from Huff in transition off a dime from Nembhard. Jun Seok Yeo nailed his second triple of the night right in front of Gonzaga's bench, as the Bulldogs started 4-for-19 from distance.
Gonzaga 47, MS Valley 23 (15:21): Nembhard converted on a runner from the baseline for the Bulldogs' third field goal of the second half. Gonzaga started the half 1-for-5 from 3-point range.
FIRST HALF:
HALFTIME: Gonzaga 38, MS Valley 18: The Bulldogs held the Delta Devils scoreless for the last 3:29 of the first half, as the home team headed into the locker room with a 20-point advantage. Mississippi Valley State's zone defense threw Gonzaga's offense off a bit, as it shot 13-of-30 from the field and 2-for-12 from beyond the arc. Huff led the way with eight points, while Brown had seven points and six rebounds for the Delta Devils.
Gonzaga 31, MS Valley 17 (3:09): Bulldogs missed six-straight attempts from the field and started 11-of-24 overall, including 1-for-9 from deep. Washington drilled the Delta Devils first 3-pointer of the night.
Gonzaga 28, MS Valley 10 (7:28): Watson threw down his second dunk over the Delta Devils, as the 6-foot-8 forward hustled for a two-hand putback off a missed layup attempt from Krajnovic in transition. The dunk capped an 11-0 scoring run from the Bulldogs, who started 11-of-18 from the field. Mississippi Valley State went without points for over four minutes before head coach George Ivory called his second timeout of the half.
