Gonzaga's Graham Ike named AP All-American honorable mention

Ike led the West Coast Conference in scoring and field goal percentage in league play

The Gonzaga Bulldogs earned some individual recognition nationally ahead of the 2024 NCAA Tournament.

Graham Ike was named an honorable mention All-American by the Associated Press on Tuesday. The 6-foot-9 post had a historic run in West Coast Conference play, as he became just the sixth player to lead the league in points (18.4) and field goal percentage (64.0%) in the same season and just the second player since the 1980-81 campaign to do so. Overall, Ike averaged 16.7 points and 7.2 rebounds.

A bulk of Ike's scoring came down the stretch of the regular season. He put up 20 points in seven-straight games, the longest such streak in program history since Adam Morrison in the 2005-06 season. Ike had 16 games with 20 or more points on the season, the most in the WCC.

Ike was the lone representative from the WCC on the honorable mention list, but a few of Gonzaga's nonconference foes were honored.

Purdue's Zach Edey, the current National Player of the Year frontrunner, was unanimously picked for the All-American First Team after putting up 24.4 points, 11.7 rebounds and 2.2 blocks per game. The 7-foot-4 Canadian received all 62 first-place votes.

UConn's fifth-year guard Tristen Newton was also on the first team, averaging 15.2 points, 7.0 rebounds and 6.0 assists. Newton's teammates Donovan Clingan and Cam Spencer were All-American honorable mentions. The Huskies' backcourt of Newton and Spencer were tabbed to the Big East all-conference team earlier this month.

Jaedon LeDee of San Diego State was the fourth player in program history to be named an All-American, as he got tabbed to the third team.  The senior averaged 21.1 points and 8.4 rebounds per game, shooting 55.7% from the field.

Washington's fifth-year guard and All-Pac-12 first team member Keion Brooks Jr. was an honorable mention, as were Kentucky's Antonio Reeves and Reed Sheppard. Purdue guard Braden Smith was among the 22 honorable mentions as well.

Experience dominated the All-American teams; 12 of the 15 All-Americans were either a senior or graduate student, including all five first-team members. Duke's Kyle Filipowski (sophomore) was the lone underclassman to be named to the prestigious list.
