The Gonzaga Bulldogs return from their three-game road stretch to host San Francisco in a showdown between West Coast Conference powers.
The Bulldogs (13-5, 4-1 WCC) bounced back from their letdown at Santa Clara with two wire-to-wire wins at Pepperdine and at San Diego last week.
A strong second half fueled an 86-61 victory over the Waves, as Gonzaga outscored its opponent 46-21 and shot 70.4% from the floor after halftime to secure Mark Few's 700th career win. Few got victory No. 701 two nights later against the Toreros in a 105-63 final. Redshirt freshman Braden Huff finished with a career-high 26 points, while Ryan Nembhard (12 points, 12 assists), Anton Watson (12 points, 10 rebounds) and Ben Gregg (15 points, 11 rebounds) all recorded double-doubles.
The Dons (15-5, 4-1 WCC) head into Spokane after having their seven-game win streak snapped in a 77-60 loss to Saint Mary's last week. Leading scorer Jonathan Mogbo was held to 11 points and six rebounds, as the Gaels remained perfect in conference play behind 22 points from Aidan Mahaney and 21 from Joshua Jefferson, who was named WCC Player of the Week on Wednesday.
In league play, Mogbo is second in scoring (20.2 points) and leads all players in rebounds (11.8 per game) while shooting a WCC-best 71.4% from the floor. The next four most efficient scorers are all Gonzaga players — Huff (70.5%), Watson (66.0%), Graham Ike (59.3%) and Nembhard (53.2%).
The Bulldogs have won 27-straight over the Dons, a streak that goes back to Feb. 2012.
