The No. 9 Gonzaga women's basketball team kicks off its 2023 NCAA Tournament appearance with a matchup against No. 8 seed Ole Miss in the first round Friday (March 17).

Gonzaga (28-4) earned the No. 9 seed after losing to Portland in the WCC Championship game. The Bulldogs' only other losses this season came against Marquette, Santa Clara and No. 2 Stanford.
A big part of the reason they have been so strong is their three-point shooting. The Zags are currently shooting a nation-best 41.46 percent from behind the three-point arc.
Gonzaga has three players currently averaging double digits so far this season, including Yvonne Ejim (16.7), Kaylynne Truong (16.1) and Brynna Maxwell (13.8).
Their loss to Portland in the WCC Championship game dropped them to No. 19 in the latest AP Poll.
Ole Miss (23-8) secured its second-straight top-four finish in the SEC this year and will be looking to improve in the tournament this year after the Rebels were bounced in the first round last season after falling 75-61 decision to South Dakota.
They are led by Angel Baker who averages 15.1 points and 5.5 rebounds a game.
