Adam Morrison on Gonzaga's path to the NCAA Tournament: 'It might be a year that we have to win the conference tournament'
It's rare for Gonzaga men's basketball to enter West Coast Conference action without a signature win over a top 25 team, but that's the case this season as the Bulldogs prepare to take on Pepperdine in their WCC opener Thursday.
And while a victory over the Waves (7-8) wouldn't count as a quality win, the matchup is an opportunity to build confidence and get back to winning ways. Gonzaga hasn't shot the ball with much rhythm, making just 31.5% of its 3-point attempts this season. Depth continues to be a concern with Luka Krajnovic out of the lineup due to a broken hand, putting more pressure on the starters to carry a heavy burden.
Those struggles and concerns are why the Bulldogs failed to pick up a signature win in the nonconference, as they went 0-4 in Quad 1 games. Without a legitimate NCAA Tournament resume, the reality that Gonzaga will have to win the WCC Tournament to qualify for the postseason is becoming more real by the day.
Former Gonzaga All-American Adam Morrison broke down what he's seen from the Bulldogs and what he expects from the squad heading into WCC action.
