Talking Zags: Ben Gregg is 'definitely a true Zag'

Former Gonzaga guard Alex Hernandez likened Gregg's game to his own when he was a Bulldog

Every team will benefit from having an energy boost come off the bench. Ben Gregg has excelled in that role with Gonzaga men's basketball, as the 6-foot-11 stretch forward earned himself minutes by fighting for loose balls, hustling for rebounds and his overall passion on the court.

On Saturday, all of Gregg's characteristics were on full display as he dropped a career-high 22 points in the Bulldogs' 101-74 victory over San Diego. The junior also set career benchmarks in minutes played (25) field goals made and attempted (8-of-15) and steals (four).

Former Gonzaga guard Alex Hernandez (2000-02) knows a thing or two about being an energy guy from his days of wearing the Bulldogs uniform.

Hernandez broke down what he saw from the Zags' first pair of WCC games, Gregg's game and more on an episode of Talking Zags.

"He’s definitely a true Zag," Hernandez said. "You can just see it in his passion. He seems like a gym rat and loves the game."
