Three-star quarterback Clayton Dees committed to Florida International on July 7, 2023. Throughout his first three games of his senior season, Dees has thrown for 489 yards and five touchdowns with two interceptions. Although Dees' squad is off to a 1-3 start at Bradenton's Palmetto High School, there is still time for his team to bounce back.

In the 2022 season, Dees led Palmetto to a 6-4 record, throwing for 1,704 yards and 13 touchdowns with three interceptions. Dees also possesses the ability to extend a play or a drive with his feet. He ran for 391 yards and three touchdowns in 2022.

Between two years as the startyer, Dees has combined totals of 2,193 passing yards, 18 touchdowns and five interceptions. His longest pass has been a 90 yard touchdown.

Dees was recruited by four other schools which included Holy Cross, Fordham,  Charleston Southern and App State, but ultimately committed to FIU. Offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach David Yost is the one credited for recruiting the class of 2024 quarterback.

Dees will be entering a quarterback room led by current true freshman Keyone Jenkins. Along with Jenkins, Grayson James, Haden Carlson, Chayden Peery, an injured Amari Jones and freshman Zachary Waters are all a part of the quarterback room.

2024 recruits will have their first opportunity to sign their NLI on December 20, 2023.
