The Nevada Wolf Pack won their first game of the 2023 season on Saturday when they beat San Diego State by the unlikely score of 6-0.

After starting the season 0-6, Nevada improve to 1-6 and 1-2 in Mountain West play. The Wolf Pack take home their first victory since September 3 of 2022. They had lost 16 straight games over the course of 411 days. It's just their third win under current head coach Ken Wilson.

Kicker Brandon Talton hit two field goals on four attempts for the Wolf Pack.

With just over a minute remaining, the Nevada defense stripped the ball from SDSU QB Jalen Mayden, which was promptly recovered by redshirt freshman linebacker Jonathan Maldonado. The Nevada offense was then able to grind out the rest of the clock, securing the win.

With Nevada now in the win column, the only winless team in FBS is Sam Houston at 0-7.

The Wolf Pack will look for their next victory on October 29 when they host the New Mexico Lobos.
