BREAKING: Texas Southern Completes First Round Of Head Coach Interviews

Texas Southern University is amid interviewing for their next head football coach, but do not have top candidates ranked as of Wednesday, Dec. 6.

HOUSTON (DEC. 6) - Texas Southern University is amid interviewing for their next head football coach after the decision not to renew Coach Clarence McKinney's contract, which expires Dec. 15. We've completed the first round of interviews," Dr. Kevin Granger told HBCU Legends. We are very excited about several candidates and will rank them." The next step will be to show the list to the school's president and invite the top candidates for onsite meetings.

Texas Southern's Head Coach Candidates Emerge

Interviews were conducted by Zoom this week. Coach Chennis Berry (Benedict) confirmed to HBCU Legends that Texas Southern contacted him last week. Other interviews were with Brett Maxie and Mickey Joseph. Dr. Granger did not offer additional names at the time of our conversation.
