Grace Berger Logs Highest Minutes of Season With Indiana Fever in Sunday's Win
ATLANTA, Ga. — Sunday, the Indiana Fever got its first win of the WNBA regular season 90-87 over the Atlanta Dream on the road. Rookie guard and Indiana women's basketball alumna Grace Berger recorded her highest minutes in the regular season paired with three points.
Six Fever players scored in double figures while Berger was given a shot off the bench for just under seven minutes across three quarters. She first entered the match at the 7:35 mark in the second frame.
By the fourth frame, she drove to the basket and squeezed in a tough shot forcing the and-1 as she completed the three-point play. Berger also totaled one assist on the day.
The Fever are currently 1-2 on the season and eighth in the standings out of 12 teams. The team is an experiment of newness as head coach Christie Sides is in her first season at the helm, and three rookies including No. 1 draft pick and former South Carolina forward Aliyah Boston, former South Carolina forward Victaria Saxton and of course Berger are still learning the system.
It didn't take long for Berger to learn the Hoosiers' system under head coach Teri Moren as the Louisville, Ky. native was a starter for four seasons. She left the program averaging 12.9 points per game shooting 48.4 percent from the field.
At No. 7 overall in the first round of the 2023 WNBA Draft, Berger was the highest pick of any Hoosier in program history. Up next, the Fever will head to Uncasville, Conn. to face the Sun on Tuesday, May 30 at 7 p.m. ET.
