How to Watch No. 17 Indiana Basketball Against No. 5 Purdue on Saturday

Indiana basketball (19-9, 10-7) takes on the Purdue Boilermakers (24-4, 13-4) on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. ET at Mackey Arena in West Lafayette, Ind. Here's how to watch, with game time and TV information, the latest on the point spread, the coaching matchup, series history and more.

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Round two of the 2023 Indiana-Purdue rivalry comes with major stakes.

With a win, Purdue would claim at least a share of the Big Ten title, its 25th overall and fourth since 2010. Indiana looks to spoil the Boilermakers' hopes and head back to Bloomington with a season sweep of its in-state rival.

It's sure to be a raucous environment at Mackey Arena, featuring the second matchup between two All-Americans, Zach Edey and Trayce Jackson-Davis.

"It's competition, I love it," Indiana coach Mike Woodson said. "I mean, that's kind of as a coach what I live for, watching so much talent in college basketball."

He owns three Big Ten regular season titles, one Big Ten Tournament title and four Big Ten Coach of the Year awards. This season, Painter joined Bob Knight, Gene Keady, Tom Izzo and Lou Henson as the only coaches to win 400 games at one Big Ten school. Painter has taken Purdue to the NCAA Tournament 13 times, including five Sweet 16 appearances and one Elite Eight finish. From 1989-93, Painter played 109 games with 50 starts under Keady at Purdue, averaging 4.5 points across a four-year career. He was an assistant coach at Washington and Jefferson, Eastern Illinois and Southern Illinois before earning his first head coaching position at Southern Illinois in 2003-04. In his lone season, Painter led Souther Illinois to a 25-5 record and an NCAA Tournament appearance. He returned to Purdue as an associate head coach in 2004-05 before becoming head coach before the 2005-06 season.
  • Mike Woodson, Indiana: In his second season at Indiana, Woodson holds a 40-23 overall record and a 19-18 mark in regular season Big Ten play. Three things to watch in Indiana vs. Purdue

1. Jackson-Davis versus Edey

All eyes will be on National Player of the Year favorite Zach Edey going up against Trayce Jackson-Davis, a surefire All-American. Jackson-Davis led the Hoosiers to victory in the first matchup with 27 points, seven rebounds and five blocks, but Edey was unstoppable with 33 points and 18 rebounds. Both players are averaging over 20 points and 10 rebounds, creating one of the most intriguing matchups of the college basketball season.

2. Indiana's perimeter defense

A major key to Indiana's win over Purdue on Feb. 4 was tenacious perimeter defense from Jalen Hood-Schifino, Trey Galloway and the Hoosiers. They held Braden Smith to four points on 1-for-8 shooting, and fellow freshman guard Fletcher Loyer scored 12 points on 1-for-6 3-point shooting. Zach Edey has been a constant source of production, but Purdue's ceiling relies on production from the supporting cast.

3. Home-court advantage

Coach Matt Painter thought Purdue did not handle the environment at Assembly Hall well in the first game, contributing to 16 turnovers and a 10-for-17 night at the free throw line. This time around, Indiana has the challenge of playing through what should be the loudest road environment it's faced all year. The Hoosiers are 4-7 on the road this season, and there's been a staggering drop off in production away from home.
