BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Indiana received three votes, but landed outside the college basketball preseason Associated Press top-25 poll, released Monday.

Following a loss to Miami in the 2023 NCAA Tournament Round of 32, Indiana came in at No. 21 on the final AP top-25 poll of the 2022-23 season. After losing six key players, including first-team All-American Trayce Jackson-Davis and Jalen Hood-Schifino, Indiana enters the 2023-24 season with plenty of uncertainty.

Around the Big Ten, Purdue is the top-ranked team, slotting at No. 3. Close behind the Boilermakers is Michigan State at No. 4. Returning a majority of their production from last season, both Purdue and Michigan State are legitimate national title contenders.

Further down, Illinois is the third and final team in the top-25 poll, sneaking in at No. 25. Wisconsin received 53 votes, essentially making it the No. 26 team in the poll. Maryland and Indiana also received votes.

Indiana's nonconference schedule is chock-full of ranked teams, headlined by No. 1 Kansas, which marks the second consecutive season that Indiana plays the preseason No. 1 team. The Hoosiers took down North Carolina 77-65 last season, though the Tar Heels dropped No. 18 by game day. Indiana is scheduled to host Kansas on Saturday, Dec. 16 at 12:30 p.m. ET.

Along with top-ranked Kansas, Indiana will also play No. 6 UConn and potentially No. 18 Texas in the Empire Classic at Madison Square Garden in New York.
