Indiana Women's Basketball to Host No. 12 Michigan in Ninth Top-25 Matchup of Season
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — Indiana women's basketball will meet No. 12 Michigan for the second time this season on Thursday night, but this time the No. 2 Hoosiers will host the Wolverines after defeating them on the road in January.
Last time in Ann Arbor when Indiana won 92-83, six Hoosiers scored in double figures led by senior forward Mackenzie Holmes with 25 points. Senior guard Sara Scalia followed behind with 19 points as this duo just rocked Ohio State with a career-high 33 points for Holmes and a season-high 24 for Scalia in the Hoosiers' win on Monday.
Holmes is leading the Hoosiers with 22.5 points per game and also crashes the boards with 7.5 rebounds per contest. She's one of four Hoosiers averaging double-figure scoring this season while the team shoots 50.4 percent from the field, the second best in the Big Ten behind Iowa.
As for Michigan, fifth year guard Leigha Brown leads the team with 17.9 points per game while graduate student forward Emily Kiser leads in boards with 6.9 per contest. Last time versus the Hoosiers, Brown had a season-high 31 points as two other Wolverines also scored in double figures.
Michigan is currently on a four-game winning streak beating Minnesota, Illinois, Michigan State and Nebraska but hasn't faced a ranked opponent since its loss to then-ranked No. 10 Maryland on Jan. 26.
Indiana has gone 8-0 against ranked foes this season for the best record in school history and has two more ranked opponents in store including Michigan and No. 7 Iowa to round out its season.
Indiana head coach Teri Moren has said multiple times how she believes the Big Ten is the best conference in the nation this season and that the remaining regular season schedule will be a great challenge.
