Indiana Women's Basketball: Kiandra Browne Enters Transfer Portal
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — Indiana women's basketball forward Kiandra Browne announced she entered the transfer portal on Wednesday via her Instagram.
"Hoosier Nation, I'm so incredibly thankful for the time that I've spent at IU. Throughout my three years here, I've been able to grow on and off the court. We have been able to achieve history making achievements in my time here that I'm so happy I got to share with my teammates.
I want to thank the coaches for giving me the opportunity to be a part of something bigger than myself. A big thank you to Hoosier Nation for always supporting me. Every time I've set foot in Assembly Hall, I've felt your love. Y'all have shown up for us in such a big way. In a way that I hope will grow and continue.
With all of that being said, after a conversation with Coach Moren, I've decided that it's best for me to put my name in the transfer portal with my last two years of eligibility. I'm excited to see where Allah is going to guide me."
The Montreal, Quebec, Canada native played in 58 games, starting eight during her time as a Hoosier. Last season, she took over for now-senior forward Mackenzie Holmes when she went down with a left knee injury.
Unfortunately, Browne suffered multiple injuries of her own the following season. She sat out the majority of the year with a right thumb injury, only appearing in seven games in the 2022-23 campaign.
Once she was healthy, adversity struck again as Browne was hip checked in the Big Ten Tournament quarterfinals versus Michigan State. She never saw the floor again after that despite head coach Teri Moren saying the x-rays showed the best case scenario.
Browne averaged 2.3 points per game for 132 points across three seasons. She also averaged 2.3 rebounds for 131 boards as a dominant presence in the post at 6-foot-2-inches. Shooting 57 percent from the field, the always jolly Browne cheering on her team from the bench despite her own injuries will surely be missed.
