DALLAS, Texas — Indiana women's basketball coach Teri Moren is the 2023 Associated Press National Coach of the Year.

Moren was honored at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas on Thursday afternoon and is the Hoosier program's first and the Big Ten's sixth coach to earn this award.

In her ninth season as a Hoosier, Moren led her team to a record-breaking season including a school-record 28 wins for a 28-4 overall finish. The Hoosiers finished the Big Ten slate 16-2 and won their first conference regular season title since 1983. Plus, Indiana won nine games over ranked opponents, five of which were over top-five foes.

Ahead of the NCAA Tournament, the Hoosiers earned the program's first one-seed and was able to host the first and second rounds of the tournament for the second consecutive season. Indiana fell just short of Miami 70-68 in the second round.

Six Hoosiers earned All-Big Ten honors as senior forward Mackenzie Holmes and graduate student guard Grace Berger landed on the first team. Holmes became the program's first player to win Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year while Moren earned her second Big Ten Coach of the Year award. Berger and Holmes also earned a respective variety of All-American honors.

This season, the Hoosiers ranked as high as No. 2 in the Associated Press Top 25 Poll behind No. 1 South Carolina. Nationally, Indiana ranks top 10 in five team categories, highlighted by shooting 49.7 percent from the field.

The 2022-23 season was the best regular season in program history for Moren and her Hoosiers as they look to build off that momentum for many years to come.
