BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – One of college basketball's best rivalry games returns to the hardwood on Tuesday, as Indiana hosts No. 2 Purdue at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall.

The Hoosiers are coming off a 74-62 win over Minnesota on Friday, while the Boilermakers handled Penn State 95-78 o Saturday. Indiana coach Mike Woodson went 3-1 against Purdue in his first two seasons, ending the Boilermakers' previous nine-game win streak.

Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET and will be broadcast exclusively on Peacock.

Welcome to our live blog for Indiana's rivalry game against Purdue, where we'll provide updates, highlights and thoughts on the game from press row at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall.

8:53 p.m. – Final: Purdue 87, Indiana 66.

8:44 p.m. – Edey dives for a loose ball then passes it ahead to Jones for a fastbreak layup after Gunn mishandled his dribble. Purdue's lead is 80-61, and that should do it with 3:24 left in the game. Indiana fans are headed to the exits.

8:42 p.m. – Mgbako makes a corner three over Edey, and he's up to 15 points. Walker misses an open three a few possessions later, and Purdue's lead remains 14 points. Indiana made a strong effort for a comeback, but never got it below nine. It feels like they've run out of gas at this point.

8:38 p.m. – Indiana is just 4-for-9 from the free throw line today, continuing their season-long struggles in that area. Purdue, on the other had, is 21-for-24, and Edey is a perfect 10-for-10.

8:35 p.m. – Mgbako drives hard and draws a foul on Heide, who looked a like he may have rolled his ankle on the play. Mgbako will have two free throws after the under-8 timeout, IU trailing 73-56.

8:32 p.m. – Johnson is back in the game now, replacing Cupps. Must have just been a little shaken up after the hard screen. Edey scores a layup right after. Purdue leads 71-56.

8:30 p.m. – Ware knocks down a three from the top of the key. That's just his second basket of the game, and the first came about a minute ago. Ware blocked a layup from Morton on the other end, but he's called for goaltending. Purdue's lead is back up to 13.

8:29 p.m. – Xavier Johnson just hit the deck really hard after an Edey screen. He ran almost full speed into him. He stayed on the ground for a few seconds, but got up under his own power. Cupps checks back in with IU trailing 65-53 with 1:20 left.

8:26 p.m. – Johnson checks in for Cupps now. Indiana could really use some solid minutes from him. He's been pretty ineffective in the 12 minutes he's played.

8:21 p.m. – Cupps called for a foul on a drive from Loyer. That's his third, but he stays in the game. Xavier Johnson hasn't done much to inspire confidence, so Woodson is rolling with the freshman. Ware also has three fouls.

8:17 p.m. – Galloway poked away a steal, then took it coast to coast and drew a foul on Braden Smith, his second. Galloway makes both free throws, and Purdue leads 60-51 with 12:50 left.

8:15 p.m. – Cupps drills a three, and Purdue's lead is down to just nine points. That's the first time it's been single digits since 27-18.

8:10 p.m. – Indiana opens the half on a 17-7 run and now trails 58-46 with 14:56 left. Ware just swatted Smith's layup attempt into the bleachers.

8:09 p.m. – Purdue answer's Indiana's run with a three from Loyer and a layup from Edey. Ware and Sparks have let Edey catch the ball way too deep all game. He's got 22 points with 15:30 remaining.

8:06 p.m. – Mgbako makes a contested layup, then Reneau draws a foul on Jones after a defensive stop. That's Jones' first foul. Reneau goes 0-for-2 at the line, but Mgabko is there for the offensive rebound and put-back. Smith called for the foul. Mgbako makes the free throw, and that actually worked out better for IU than the initial foul. Purdue's leads is down to 11.

8:05 p.m. – Galloway rejects a screen from Ware, then steps back and drains a three. The senior is not going out easy, but IU still has a long way to go, trailing by 14 two minutes into the second half.

8:04 p.m. – Cupps sinks a mid-range jumper, and Galloway hits a three to open the half. The crowd is back into it. IU trails 51-34.

8:02 p.m. – Indiana has very little chance of winning this game, but let's see if they come out with some fight after getting punked by 22 points on their home court to their arch rival. After losing both games last year, I don't imagine Purdue will take it easy at any point, no matter how big the lead gets.

7:53 p.m. – Indiana's 51 first half points allowed ranks third most for any half this season behind both halves against Auburn when the Hoosiers gave up 52.

7:46 p.m. – Lance Jones makes a wide-open three just before the half, and Indiana trails Purdue 51-29 at halftime. That's got to be one of Indiana's worst halves of the season.

7:43 p.m. – Woodson calls a timeout after Mason Gillis grabs an offensive rebounds and lays it back in. Purdue leads 48-29 with 43 seconds left in the first half. Indiana is shooting just 36.1% from the field and 2-for-12 from three. Purdue has a 13-point advantage at the free throw line alone.

7:41 p.m. – CJ Gunn now picks up his second foul of the game as he tried to fight through a screen. Indiana has 11 fouls this have. Gunn grabs an offensive rebound off a missed three from Ware, cutting Purdue's lead to 44-27.

7:38 p.m. – Xavier Johnson's foul before that last timeout has been upgraded to a Flagrant 1. That does not mean an ejection, but Woodson puts him on the bench. Purdue's lead extends to 43-25 after a Lance Jones layup.

7:35 p.m. – Smith makes his first shot from the field today, and Johnson is called for a his second foul. Now Johnson, Cupps, Mgbako and Ware each have two fouls. Purdue leads 39-25.

7:33 p.m. – Great look-ahead pass from Gunn, hitting Reneau for a fast break layup after Braden Smith free throws. Indiana, again, can't guard Edey, though. Galloway answers with a three, and Purdue's lead is 35-25 with 4:15 left in the half.

7:31 p.m. – Braden Smith is 0-for-7 from the floor, but Indiana hasn't been able to take advantage of that. After a missed Smith layup, Anthony Walker misses a good look at a three. Lance Jones sinks a three for Purdue, and Indiana is in the danger zone, trailing 32-18.

7:27 p.m. – And now Cupps picks up his second foul battling with Caleb Furst down low. Purdue leads 27-18 with 7:22 left in the half.

7:25 p.m. – Kaufman-Renn called for a foul going for an offensive rebound. Purdue had a couple good looks at threes that possession but missed. Anthony Walker just came off the bench and made a layup, trimming Purdue's lead to 25-18.

7:18 p.m. – Loyer good from three, and Galloway misses an open three on the other end. Sometimes it's as simple as making open shots. Indiana is just 6-for-21 from the field and 1-for-6 from three. Purdue is 7-for-15 from the field and 3-for-6 from three. The big difference is Purdue is 6-for-6 at the line, and Indiana hasn't attempted a free throw. Purdue leads 23-13 with 9:47 left in the half.

7:17 p.m. – Johnson throws a badpass turnover, but Galloway got a finger on it in transition to get Indiana the ball back. It leads to a Sparks layup. Purdue leads 18-13.

7:13 p.m. – Sparks called for a foul as he contested Edey for a rebound. Looked like Sparks and Edey had their arms hooked. After review, they call a hook and hold foul on Sparks, giving Edey two free throws. Indiana having a tough time on Edey so far. He's got eight points and has drawn three fouls. Purdue gets possession again, and Loyer sinks a three, extending Purdue's lead to 18-9.

7:12 p.m. – Great ball movement from Indiana led to an open look for Johnson, but he passed it up to shot fake and pull up for a mid-range jumper. He missed it. Purdue goes right to Edey again, and he draws Ware's second foul. Ware and Mgbako both have two fouls now. Payton Sparks checks in for IU. Purdue leads 13-9.

7:09 p.m. – Edey called for a moving screen, his first foul. Galloway knocks down a mid-range jumper on the other end. That's IU's first basket from someone other than Mgbako. Purdue leads 11-9.

7:08 p.m. – And now Mgbako picks up his second foul on the first possession after timeout. Gillis got it down low and went right into his chest. Xavier Johnson checks in for Mgbako, so IU is going a bit smaller with Johnson, Cupps and Galloway together. Purdue leads 11-7.

7:05 p.m. – Purdue leads 9-7 at the under-16 timeout. Lance Jones gave the Boilermakers their first lead. Mgbako made another aggressive drive to the basket, but he was called for a charge, set by Fletcher Loyer. It's been a fast-paced game so far, and Purdue has missed a couple open threes.

7:03 p.m. – Ware rejects Edey, and it leads to an open look for Galloway on the right wing. He missed, but Mgbako was there for the offensive rebound and putback. Edey answers on the other end with an easy layup. It's tied 7-7.

7:02 p.m. – Mgbako with an aggressive drive to the basket, leading to a reverse layup. After a couple misses from Braden Smith and Edey, Lance Jones knocks down a three to tie the game 5-5.

7:01 p.m. – Mgabko gets an open look from the left wing and drains the three. It's very loud in here. Zach Edey quiets down the crowd a bit with a layup over Ware on the other end.

7 p.m. – Indiana controls the tip, and we're under way.

6:57 p.m. – Here's a picture of the white-out crowd a few minutes before tipoff.

6:49 p.m. – Oddsmakers favor Purdue by 9.5 tonight, and the over/under is 150.5 points, according to the SI Sportsbook just before tipoff.

6:41 p.m. – Officials for tonight's game are DJ Carstensen, Doug Sirmons and Kipp Kissinger.

6:38 p.m. – Gabe Cupps is starting for Indiana tonight, along with the usual four of Trey Galloway, Mackenzie Mgbako, Malik Reneau and Kel'el Ware. Xavier Johnson will come off the bench for the second time in his Indiana career.

6:33 p.m. – Here are my three keys to the game for Indiana. 1) Xavier Johnson, Trey Galloway, Gabe Cupps and CJ Gunn must play strong pressure defense on Purdue guards Braden Smith and Fletcher Loyer to keep the Boilermakers from dictating the game on their offensive end. 2) Malik Reneau needs to stay out of foul trouble. He's been Indiana's most consistent scoring option, and the Hoosiers need him if they want to keep the game close in the first half. 3) Limit turnovers. Indiana can't give Purdue extra possessions, but that's been a problem this year. Indiana is second in the Big Ten with 211 turnovers this year.

6:15 p.m. – It's a "white out" game at Assembly Hall tonight, and the crowd should give the Hoosiers a strong home court advantage. Students are given white shirts, plus signs that say "3 seconds" perhaps in a nod to Purdue big man Zach Edey. Here's the picture.

6:04 p.m. – Purdue is prepping for a physical game tonight by breaking out the pads for warmups.

5:50 p.m. – Here's a picture of Leal pregame. Hard to tell what's keeping him out, as he's not wearing a walking boot or any obvious brace.

4:01 p.m. – Indiana senior guard Anthony Leal is out for tonight's game, according to the Big Ten availability report. As expected, Jakai Newton and Jordan Rayford also remain out for the Hoosiers. Purdue is at full strength.
