PHOTO GALLERY: The Best Pictures From Indiana's 85-71 Loss to Penn State
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — In an important Big Ten game between the Indiana Hoosiers (13-9, 5-6 in Big Ten) and Penn State Nittany Lions (11-11, 5-6 in Big Ten) at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall on Saturday, shots from behind the 3-point line proved to be the difference.
Indiana came out of the gate on fire, jumping out to a 16-6 lead in the first seven minutes of play. The combination of big men Malik Reneau and Kel'el Ware appeared to be too much for Penn State's smaller lineup.
But the Nittany Lions sliced into that lead, closing the gap to 41-37 at halftime. Penn State then went on a 10-2 run after halftime, taking a 47-43 lead and never looking back. Mike Rhoades' team went on to post an 85-71 victory over the Hoosiers.
Penn State made 12-of-22 shots from long range. Indiana had 19 attempts from deep, but converted on only five.
