Wright State Leading Scorer Trey Calvin Out Against Indiana
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Wright State point guard and leading scorer Trey Calvin will not play Thursday night against Indiana due to a shoulder injury. The news was first reported by Talia Goodman of Peegs.com.
Calvin was named Horizon League Preseason Player of the Year for the 2023-24 season, and is averaging 27.5 points through two games this season. He was a first-team All-Horizon League player last season, averaging 20.3 points per game and shooting 39% from 3-point range.
This is a major loss for Wright State entering Thursday's game at Indiana, which is set to tip off at 7 p.m. ET inside Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall. Without Calvin, Wright State will likely lean on Tanner Holden, a 6-foot-6 guard. Holden led the Raiders to an NCAA Tournament appearance in 2022, scoring 20.1 points per game.
As expected, Indiana will be without freshman guard Jakai Newton (knee) and walk-on sophomore guard Jordan Rayford (lower body) Thursday night. No Hoosiers were listed questionable in the pregame availability report.
