Opening Line: Big Ten Football Point Spreads Set for Week 12 Games

It's no surprise that Michigan, Ohio State and Penn State are all heavy favorites in Big Ten football games in Week 12. The other four conference matchups are all projected to be within a touchdown, which sets up for a fun weekend ahead. Here are all the point spreads for this week's league games.

If you're a believer that upsets happen when you least expect them, you might want to keep your eye on the Big Ten in Week 12. It should come as no surprise that Michigan, Ohio State and Penn State are massive favorites heading into the weekend.

All three teams are three-touchdown favorites. In all likelihood, there won't be that much excitement in the league this week, but this is college football and anything can happen.

The other four matchups in the conference have lines within a touchdown. So, it could be a fun weekend in the Big Ten.

Rutgers vs. Penn State 

  • When/Where: Noon ET, State College, Pa. 
  • TV: Fox Sports 1

  • Series Record: Penn State leads 31-2
  • The skinny: Both Penn State and Rutgers are looking to bounce back after disappointing losses. The Nittany Lions are still on track to hit 10 wins in the regular season while Rutgers hopes to pull off a major upset.

Michigan State vs. Indiana

  • When/Where: Noon ET, Bloomington, Ind. 
  • TV: Big Ten Network

  • Over/Under: 47.5
  • Series Record: Michigan State leads 49-18-2
  • The skinny: Postseason hopes were dashed for both Michigan State and Indiana in Week 11. Now, the Big Ten rivals will try to salvage something from this season with the Old Brass Spittoon on the line at Memorial Stadium Saturday.

Michigan vs. Maryland

  • When/Where: Noon ET, College Park, Md.
  • TV: Fox

  • Over/Under: 50.5
  • Series Record: Michigan leads 10-1
  • The skinny: Michigan notched its first signature win of the season last week against Penn State, and looked impressive doing so. Maryland snapped a four-game skid with a road victory over Nebraska. Do the Terrapins have any shot at pulling off the biggest upset in college football this season?

Purdue vs. Northwestern

  • When/Where: Noon ET, Evanston, Ill. 
  • TV: Big Ten Network

  • Series Record: Purdue leads 53-33-1
  • The skinny: David Braun's Northwestern squad sits just one victory away from bowl eligibility. Purdue has a chance to play spoiler for a second straight week after essentially ending Minnesota's Big Ten West hopes last Saturday.

Iowa vs. Illinois

  • When/Where: 3:30 p.m. ET, Iowa City, Iowa.
  • TV: Fox Sports 1

  • Series Record: Illinois leads 39-37-2
  • The skinny: Iowa can secure a spot in Indianapolis for the Big Ten Championship Game with a win over Illinois on Senior Day. The Illini would like to clinch a bowl berth before the final week of the season after winning three of their last four games.

Minnesota vs. Ohio State 

  • When/Where: 4 p.m. ET, Columbus, Ohio. 
  • TV: Big Ten Network

  • Series Record: Ohio State leads 46-7
  • The skinny: Minnesota is on the verge of losing three-straight games and falling below .500 heading into Rivalry Week. Ohio State is looking to fine-tune its offense prior to a massive showdown with Michigan to close out the year.

Nebraska vs. Wisconsin 

  • When/Where: 7:30 p.m. ET, Madison, Wis. 
  • TV: NBC

  • Over/Under: 36.5
  • Series Record: Wisconsin leads 12-4
  • The skinny: A battle for bowl eligibility closes out the Week 12 slate in the Big Ten. Both the Huskers and Badgers are hoping to end losing streaks on Saturday, too. Nebraska has dropped back-to- back games while Wisconsin has endured a three-game skid.
