Former Hoosier Devon Matthews Signs With Denver Broncos as Undrafted Free Agent
Devon Matthews is headed to the Mile High City.
Matthews, a 6-foot-2, 205-pound safety who goes by the nickname "Monster," signed with the Denver Broncos as an undrafted free agent on Saturday night.
Matthews played five seasons at Indiana, appearing in 52 games with 35 starts. He was a third-team All-Big Ten selection in 2020 and received Indiana's Most Outstanding Defensive Player of the Year award in 2021.
Matthews finished his Indiana career with 217 total tackles, 20 passes defended, 10 tackles for loss, four interceptions, two sacks and one fumble recovery. He was a constant presence in the Indiana defensive backfield, helping the Hoosiers reach back-to-back bowl games in 2019 and 2020.
He was one of five Indiana players who were signed to deals after the 2023 NFL Draft. No Hoosiers were drafted. (Stories are the other four players are linked below.)
