Indiana Adds Old Dominion Safety Terry Jones From Transfer Portal
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Old Dominion safety Terry Jones announced his decision Thursday night to transfer to Indiana. Jones joins his teammate and fellow safety Shawn Asbury II in joining the Hoosiers.
At 6-foot-1 and 193 pounds, Jones earned an All-Sun Belt honorable mention in 2023. He was third on Old Dominion's defense with 107 total tackles, along with four tackles for loss, four pass breakups, three quarterback hits, one forced fumble and a fumble recovery. Pro Football Focus gave Jones a 74.6 defensive grade in 2023, which ranked ninth among Old Dominion defenders.
Jones played 11 games in both the 2022 and 2021 seasons, making 62 and 69 total tackles, respectively. His two career interceptions came during the 2022 season. Jones redshirted the 2019 season, so he joins the Hoosiers with one year of eligibility.
The addition of Jones and Asbury should help replace starting safeties Louis Moore, who's transferring to Ole Miss, and Phillip Dunnam, who's in the transfer portal. New Indiana head coach Curt Cignetti hired Ola Adams to coach Indiana safeties and defensive backs in 2024.
