Tom Allen on Cam Camper's Injury: 'He's Had a Good Week of Practice'

Indiana football coach Tom Allen spoke to media on Thursday and said that wide receiver Cam Camper, "had a good week of practice," when asked about his availability for Saturday's game against Louisville. Camper was injured in the second quarter of Indiana's Week 2 game against Indiana State.

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — Though Indiana coach Tom Allen will not reveal any injury specifics prior to the pregame availability report, he did hint at the health status of Indiana wide receiver Cam Camper on Thursday.

Camper left the Indiana State matchup last Friday late in the second quarter and did not return to the game. The star wide receiver appeared suffer an injury to his right knee, the same one in which he tore his ACL a season ago.

“We use the injury availability report each week, and that’s going to become the way we communicate our updates on things,” Allen said. "But he's had a good week of practice."

While Camper's status remains unclear, Allen's comments suggest that Camper is potentially available Saturday against Louisville.

Despite a mostly limited passing game through the first two weeks of the season, Camper has shown what made him Indiana's breakout star a year ago. In just six quarters of action – four of which featured a triple option-focused approach – the veteran wide receiver has tallied six receptions for 72 yards.

In Week 2, Camper barely missed out on having the most explosive passing play of Indiana's football season to date. He hit an Indiana State cornerback with a nasty double move, and a perfect pump fake from quarterback Tayven Jackson appeared to create a 54-yard gain for Camper. Unfortunately, the play was called back for a holding penalty.

However, the 6-foot-2 pass-catcher still made what could end up being the most jaw-dropping play that any Hoosier produces this season. On Jackson's third drive of the game, he seemingly overthrew Camper deep down the field, only for the wide receiver to break out a superman dive and haul in the pass.

Camper's spectacular grab ended up earning him the No. 2 spot on SportsCenter's Top 10 plays the next day. You can read Jack Ankony's full story on that honor at this link here.

If Camper did in fact have a good week of practice leading up to Saturday's game at Lucas Oil Stadium, it wouldn't be surprising to see him on the field against Louisville.
