Indiana Tight End Aaron Steinfeldt Enters Transfer Portal
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Indiana tight end Aaron Steinfeldt announced his decision to enter the transfer portal on Monday. He has two years of remaining eligibility.
At 6-foot-5, Steinfeldt caught seven passes for 63 yards and a touchdown during his Indiana career, and six catches came during the 2022 season.
Steinfeldt used a redshirt season in 2021, then stepped into a bigger role the following year when starting tight end AJ Barner was injured. Steinfeldt's first and so far only career touchdown came in a 38-33 loss to Maryland.
Indiana coaches lauded Steinfeldt for his pass-catching ability and ball skills in 2022, though his playing time dropped off as a redshirt sophomore in 2023. Steinfeldt ended up playing the fourth-most snaps among Indiana tight ends, behind Bradley Archer, Trey Walker and James Bomba.
Steinfeldt committed to Indiana as a three-star recruit and the 25th-ranked tight end in the nation, per 247 Sports. He's a local kid, graduating from Bloomington North High School, where he was the Indiana Football Coaches Association Mr. Football position award winner among tight ends and became the school's first athlete in 20 years to receive all-conference honors in football, basketball and baseball.
