Game Primer: Kansas Jayhawks vs UNLV Rebels in the Guaranteed Rate Bowl
The Kansas Jayhawks are making their second straight bowl appearance today, following up their Liberty Bowl appearance last year with a trip to Phoenix, AZ for the Guaranteed Rate Bowl. Their opponent in tonight's bowl game is the UNLV Rebels out of the Mountain West conference. The Rebels are coming off a loss in their conference championship game and are looking for their first 10-win season since 1984.
Kansas dropped out of the polls after a loss to Texas Tech late in the season, but they are still receiving votes in both polls. UNLV has flirted with the rankings all season long, but the closest they came was after their win over Air Force in Week 12.
These two teams have faced off twice in their history, a home-and-home series that was held in 2002 and 2003. Each team won at home.

Fun Facts
Kansas has 25 sacks on the season and have scored four touchdowns on defense. That is good for 1st in the conference and 7th nationally.
A win would even up the all-time bowl record for Kansas at 7-7. It would also be the first bowl victory since their last appearance in this game. Back in the 2008-09 season, the Jayhawks defeated the Minnesota Golden Gophers in what was then called the Insight Bowl.
