Bryson Williams is a St. Mary’s Prep athlete in Orchard Lake, Michigan. He measures around 6-foot-2 205 pounds and received an offer recently from Kansas. Following his Jayhawks offer I did a deep film dive on some of his tapes and I put together a cluster of notes on some of the things I’ve noticed.

Before diving into Williams as a player. Here is what he had to say about his Kansas offer.

Strengths

  • Vision: Williams had tons of high-quality plays last season due to his vision. He can read the downfield defenders very well to create a quick cut to separate himself from the defenders.
  • Returning: He was electric in the return game having many deep returns for touchdowns in both punt and kickoff situations. He showed great vision in these situations as well which was huge for his team especially if they missed a block downfield.
  • Quick Cuts: I noticed that Williams is fast when making cuts to separate himself from the defenders. His cuts are what give him the biggest separation advantage out of all of his attributes.
  • Physical: He isn’t necessarily the fastest guy on the field so for him to be physical that’s huge for him. He loves throwing his stiff arm out and that isn’t always expected from a wideout.
  • Ball Tracking: Williams sure knows how to track down the ball when it’s in the air. He showed that on both offense and defense.
  • Adjusting: He is great at adjusting to motions and offensive settings when playing defense. He communicates well and knows how to take a player out of the picture.

Areas To Improve

  • Route Running: Although I wouldn’t say this is an elite trait of his he does show promising upside in the route running category. He isn’t bad at route running by any means it’s just something you can expect to see him improve on over time.
  • Speed: He isn’t slow whatsoever but he isn’t that breakaway burner type of prospect either. This will also come over time but his cuts are quick enough to make this less of a factor.

Overall Williams could play either side in college but I truly like his upside on defense. He is very aggressive and could create a ton of issues for his opponents. I also believe he could potentially be a next-level returner as well.
