Kentucky Baseball Cracks D1Baseball Top 25
Kentucky baseball is finally seeing some national recognition for its long winning streak.
Following a three-game sweep of Mississippi State to open SEC play, the Bat Cats have now won 14 games in a row and are the No. 23 team in the nation in D1Baseball's new Top 25. Baseball America has UK at No. 25 in its new rankings.
UK's winning streak is both the longest in the nation and the program's longest in the last 11 years. The sweep of the Bulldogs is the first in conference play for UK since 2021.
There are 10 SEC teams ranked entering March 20, per D1Baseball:
- No. 1 LSU
- No. 3 Florida
- No. 4 Vanderbilt
- No. 5 Arkansas
- No. 11 South Carolina
- No. 12 Tennessee
- No. 13 Ole Miss
- No. 21 Texas A&M
- No. 22 Missouri
- No. 23 Kentucky
Kentucky will look to keep its winning streak going on Tuesday, as it hosts Eastern Kentucky for one game. The Colonels defeated the Cats last season. Following the midweek action, UK will head south to Tuscaloosa for a three-game set against Alabama, which fell out of the Top 25 after losing two of three games to Florida. The Crimson Tide also lost a series to Columbia in the weekend prior.
First pitch between UK and EKU is set for 6:30 p.m. EST.
