After providing a solid test for No. 1 LSU in Baton Rouge over the weekend, Kentucky baseball has dropped one spot in the latest D1Baseball Top 25.

The Bat Cats went 1-2 against the Tigers and did not have a midweek matchup due its scheduled game at Louisville getting postponed. Head coach Nick Mingione's team is one of six SEC teams ranked in the new poll:

  • No. 1 LSU
  • No. 3 Florida
  • No. 4 Vanderbilt
  • No. 5 Arkansas
  • No. 6 South Carolina

"I'm just really proud of this team. I've said it over and over, their competitive spirit is phenomenal. I believe and I told them this, you know, we can beat any team on our schedule," Mingione said following Saturday's 7-6 loss to LSU

Kentucky will return to Kentucky Proud Park for a five-game home stand, beginning on Tuesday night for a midweek game against Xavier. Following the Musketeers will be Texas A&M, which heads to Lexington for a three-game series beginning on Friday night.

The road ahead for UK still looks daunting, as three of its final five SEC series are against teams currently in the top 10 — Florida, Vanderbilt and South Carolina. Halfway through the SEC slate, the Wildcats are 10-5 in-conference, but still only fourth in the SEC East:

  1. Vanderbilt — 13-2
  2. Florida — 11-4
  3. South Carolina — 10-4
  4. Kentucky — 10-5
  5. Tennessee — 5-10
  6. Missouri — 5-10
  7. Georgia — 4-11

First pitch between Kentucky and Xavier on April 18 is set for 6:30 p.m. EST. The game will be televised on SEC Network+.
