Kentucky Football 2024 Schedule Announced
Kentucky's 2024 football schedule was announced and the most exciting game on the schedule is the matchup with Texas. 2024 will of course be the first season Texas is a part of the SEC and the Cats will head to Austin in year one. The Longhorns are in the 2023 College Football Playoff so it will be a tough test for the Cats.
Let's take a look at Kentucky's 2024 football schedule:
Week 1: Aug 31st- Southern Miss Golden Eagles
Southern Miss is coming off a 3-9 season but will look to rebound in 2024. The Golden Eagles beat the Cats in Lexington in 2016, so despite the rough record a season ago, Kentucky needs to be ready.
Week 2: Sept 7th- South Carolina Gamecocks
The Gamecocks had an extremely disappointing 2023 season despite a win over Kentucky. They are hitting the transfer portal hard, so this is a team to watch out for next season.
Week 3: Sept 14th- Georgia Bulldogs
We have talked about how the Cat's need to beat the Dawgs if they want to be considered a contender in the SEC. This game is another opportunity for Kentucky to do that, with former Georgia quarterback Brock Vandagriff wearing blue and white.
Week 4: Sept 21st- Ohio Bobcats
Kentucky has played Ohio five times in program history and come out on top in three of the matchups. This Ohio team has been sneaky over the past few seasons, so the Cats need to be ready and not look past this game on the schedule.
Week 5: Sept 28th- @ Ole Miss Rebels
Ole Miss had a very good season under Coach Lane Kiffin and will have their starting quarterback back in 2024. This will be a challenging game for Kentucky but will be a must win if the Cats want to exceed expectations.
Week 6: Oct 5th- Bye Week
Week 7: Oct 12th- Vanderbilt
The Cats will host the Vanderbilt Commodores in what should but a pretty simple win for Kentucky. Vandy has lost almost all of their talent from a roster that only won two games.
Week 8: Oct 19th- @ Florida Gators
Kentucky beat a ranked Florida team in 2023 and will need to beat them again in 2024 if the Cats want to have a successful season with a daunting schedule. This task will be much more challenging in the Swamp.
Week 9: Oct 26th- Auburn Tigers
The Auburn Tigers are coming off a 6-6 season but are making moves in the right direction on the recruiting trail. If Kentucky wins this game, it will be a big swing game on the 2024 schedule in the Cat's direction.
Week 10: Nov 2nd- @ Tennessee Volunteers
The Cats will head to Knoxville for what will be one of the most challenging games of the season. Kentucky hasn't played well in Knoxville over the years so this game could make or break the season.
Week 11: Nov 9th- Bye Week
Week 12: Nov 16th- Murray State Racers
Murray State is coming off a very bad 2023 season and should be an easy win for the Cats at home. Watch out for the in-state teams as EKU came in and gave Kentucky a run for their money in 2023.
Week 13: Nov 23rd- @ Texas Longhorns
The Longhorns are in the College Football Playoff and will have another good team in 2024. If the Cats win this game on the road, it would be the best win of the Mark Stoops ear.
Week 14: Nov 30th- Louisville Cardinals
Kentucky beat the ranked Cardinals this season and will look to do it again in 2024. Louisville's program is moving in the right direction, so the Cats will have a tough matchup with their biggest rival in Kroger Field.
Former five-star Georgia quarterback Brock Vandagriff has committed to Kentucky
