NC State RB Demie Sumo-Karngbaye Transferring to Kentucky
And so the NC State—Kentucky pipeline opens once again.
The Wildcats made a nice addition to the backfield on Tuesday, as former Wolfpack running back Demie Sumo-Karngbaye has announced that he is transferring to Lexington to re-join forces with quarterback Devin Leary:
Sumo-Karngbaye hit the portal after two seasons in Raleigh and will have two seasons of eligibility remaining. He rushed for 305 yards and three touchdowns on 55 carries a season ago for the Wolfpack while also catching 12 passes for 148 yards and a score.
The 6-foot, 200-pound tailback was a 4-star recruit coming out of Willingboro High School in New Jersey — less than an hour north of Sicklerville, the hometown of Leary.
He adds even more depth to the RB room in Lexington, which features Vanderbilt transfer Ray Davis, senior JuTahn McClain, super senior Ramon Jefferson and redshirt sophomore La'Vell Wright.
Sumo-Karngbaye is the 13th addition Kentucky has made in the transfer portal following the end of the 2022 season. He builds on a what has been a busy past few days for the Cats — who also recently added linebacker Daveren Rayner from Northern Illinois and placekicker Alex Raynor from Georgia Southern.
