NASHVILLE — With less than 24 hours until it begins its quest for an SEC Tournament championship, Kentucky is still uncertain how many guards it will be without on Friday night.

On Thursday night, assistant coach Orlando Antigua spoke to reporters, giving a minor update on guards Cason Wallace and CJ Fredrick.

Wallace hit the floor last Wednesday in UK's home loss to Vanderbilt, going down with a lower-leg injury, forcing him to leave the game. He then missed the regular-season finale against Arkansas last Saturday in Fayetteville.

Fredrick has been battling through a cracked rib that was suffered on Feb. 7, keeping him from full health for the remainder of the season. Now, both are day-to-day ahead of a third game against Vanderbilt.

“They did practice today" Antigua said. "So, we’ll get a chance to see how they’re feeling tomorrow. Both went through a full practice. We’ll see how they’re feeling in the morning when we go to shootaround.”

Fredrick played the final three games of the regular season, playing as many as 28 minutes, though he's scored a combined eight points in the trio of outings.

Head coach John Calipari has praised the Iowa transfer's toughness for playing through pain. Antigua knows that if Fredrick is available to play, he'll be on the floor.

“You want to keep the rhythm going, you want to keep the intensity that your body has to take playing the minutes he’s played. Also you want to start loosening up the ankle, the injury, whatever you have going. You don’t want to wait for that.” Antigua said. "If he can go, he's got to go."

Point guard Sahvir Wheeler will miss his ninth consecutive game due to an ankle injury and now an unrelated "minor procedure." If Wallace is also unable to play, shooting guard Antonio Reeves will be forced to man ball-handling duties once again.

Kentucky and Vandy will tipoff around 9 p.m. EST on Friday night inside Bridgestone Arena. Wildcats Today will have updates surrounding the status of the guards in the lead-up to game time.
