Kentucky Briefing: ESPN's matchup predictor thinks the North Carolina Tar Heels will beat the Kentucky Wildcats

ESPN thinks Kentucky will lose to North Carolina on Saturday.

The Kentucky Wildcats just got back from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, playing the Penn Quakers, and now they will head down south to Atlanta, Georgia, to take on the North Carolina Tar Heels.

The Tar Heels are ranked as the #9 team in all of college basketball, with the Cats right on their tail at #14.

After the loss to UNC Wilmington, Kentucky is in desperate need of some Quad 1 wins to help their NET Rankings, and this game is an opportunity to do that.

ESPN's matchup predictor thinks the North Carolina Tar Heels are going to win a close game as it gives them a 53% to win to Kentucky's 47%.

North Carolina is a good basketball team that has some veteran starters, but if Kentucky plays to their ability, they will win this basketball game.

Kentucky's bigs need to slow Armando Bacot if they want to leave Atlanta with the Cat's second top-ten victory of the season.

Andy Patten wrote about Meleek Thomas, who is a Kentucky basketball target in the 2025 class.

"John Calipari and the Kentucky Wildcats never struggle to land premier five-star guards while on the recruiting trail. That trend will no doubt continue as high schoolers watch this year's team, who could put three freshman guards into the 2024 NBA Draft."

"Looking ahead to 2025, the Wildcats already have their eyes on a top-ranked prospect in Meleek Thomas from Lincoln Park, PA, who is currently ranked sixth in the class according to On3's composite rankings."
