The outlook for Kentucky's 2023-24 basketball team has changed thanks to late additions
Many were concerned with what Coach Calipari was doing with the 2023-24 basketball roster, but that outlook has changed quickly.
Kentucky missed on some big-time portal players, which had many wondering how many players this team would have.
At the time, it seemed this team was going to be full of true freshman and sophomore players, but that all changed.
There was talk that guard Antonio Reeves might transfer, but he decided to stay at Kentucky. This, plus the addition of Tre Mitchell from West Virginia and seven-footer Zvonimir Ivisic, has the Wildcats ready to roll this season.
Reeves and Mitchell bring veteran leadership as they have both played a lot of college hoops, while Ivisic brings depth to a banged-up backcourt.
Reeves will be one of the best players in college basketball this season and is a candidate to average 18+ points.
He averaged 14.4 points per game a season ago, and I expect that number to increase significantly in his second year in Lexington.
Mitchell will be a do it all player for the Wildcats this season. Thanks to his six-foot-nine frame, he can help out at the five if Aaron Bradshaw and Ugonna Onyenso aren't ready for the start of the season.
While the team was in Canada, Mitchell proved that he can shoot the three and score down low.
Ivisic brings a lot to the table, as he truly can do everything on the basketball court. He will help protect the rim and space the floor while being able to score from any part of the court.
The seven-footer will light the college basketball world up when he laces them up in Rupp Arena.
These three, mixed with the rest of the talent on this roster, will be a lot of fun to watch.
This Kentucky basketball team went from a squad people were concerned about to a National Championship contender in a matter of weeks.
