Kentucky Reportedly Reaching Out to Rutgers Transfer Paul Mulcahy
Kentucky basketball continues its quest to try and land a single player via the transfer portal. A new name has entered the chat for the Wildcats, per Adam Zagoria.
Rutgers guard Paul Mulcahy, a 6-foot-7 senior out of Bayonne, N.J., is in the portal. Zagoria reported on Friday that UK is one of four early schools to reach out, along with Kansas State, Michigan and West Virginia:
Mulcahy averaged 8.3 points, 4.9 assists and 3.6 rebounds for the Scarlet Knights in 30 games last season, his fourth with the program. In 121 career games and 81 starts, he's averaging 6.8 PPG, 3.8 APG and 3.4 RPG.
He's a career 45.1-percent shooter, a 36.4-percent 3-point shooter and a 71.6-percent free-throw shooter. He shot 37 percent from behind the arc last season, a career high.
Mulcahy has one year of eligibility left as a grad transfer. The guard position isn't exactly an area of need for the Wildcats entering the 2023-24 season, but coach John Calipari and his staff aren't in a position to say no to any portal offerings, having missed on so many thus far.
