These stats from Mississippi State are concerning for the Wildcats

Mississippi State could give the Kentucky Wildcats issues.

The Kentucky Wildcats are 2-1 in SEC play after losing in overtime to Texas A&M on Saturday.

This matchup didn't look great on paper for the Kentucky Wildcats, as Texas A&M did a lot well that Kentucky didn't do well on the flip side. The Aggies are a scrappy basketball team that plays the game hard, which is very similar to a team the Wildcats play this week.

Kentucky will host the Mississippi State Bulldogs on Wednesday, looking to pick up their third win of SEC play. Mississippi State comes into this ball game 1-2 in SEC play, but their win was against the Tennessee Volunteers. Their two losses came to South Carolina on the road and Alabama at home. This Bulldog team does a lot well, making this game interesting. Mississippi State is the number 12 team in college hoops in opponent three-point percentage at 27.7%. This means the Bulldogs defend the three-ball well. They are 13th in college hoops in bench points, scoring 32.44 a game, so this is a deep team. Lastly, the Bulldogs are solid defensively, as opponents only score 64.8 points a game against them. Kentucky will need to find a way to score against a solid Mississippi State defense.

John Calipari has talked time and time again about how Kentucky "needs to play better one on one defense." This was an issue against Texas A&M, so the Wildcats need to defend better if they want to take down Mississippi State in Rupp Arena.

Mississippi State is an excellent SEC team that proved they can beat anyone taking down Tennessee. The Wildcats need to come out with a lot of intensity in this game.
