This Kentucky Wildcat is averaging the second most points in the SEC
The Kentucky Wildcats are having a great 2023-24 season so far despite a recent road loss to Texas A&M. The Cats played a hungry Texas A&M team that needed a Quad 1 win, and they got it thanks to taking down Kentucky.
The 97-92 overtime loss to Texas A&M was the Cat's first loss of conference play, but with the SEC being as tough as it is this season, it likely won't be their last.
One of the reasons the Cats have had such a strong start to the season is thanks to Antonio Reeves. He is averaging 18.9 points per game so far this season, which is second-best in the SEC behind Mark Sears of Alabama, who is averaging 20.3 points per game.
Heading into this season, Reeves was expected to be a star and a leader on this team, and he has been both of those things. Reeves had an excellent season for the Cats last year, but he has elevated all of his numbers. Last year, Reeves averaged 14.4 points per game and shot 39.8% from deep. This year, to go with his 18.9 points per game, he is shooting 42.7% from three.
In Kentucky's loss to Texas A&M, Reeves played really well, scoring 22 points to go with six rebounds and an assist. He was 7-15 from the field and 5-10 from three.
If Kentucky is going to make a deep run in March, a lot of the thanks will be given to Reeves, as he is playing really good basketball as we get deeper into SEC play.
