Former Wildcat great could be the NBA's MVP this season

This former Kentucky Wildcat could win the NBA MVP award.

The Kentucky Wildcats have a ton of stars in the NBA for the 2023-24 season.

Kentucky actually has the most players on NBA rosters compared to all other colleges, with 26. Duke is the next closest team, with 24 players on NBA rosters. It's no secret that Kentucky puts a ton of talent in the NBA, and that is part of what makes John Calipari such a special coach. He is worried about the player's futures and making sure they will be set for life thanks to basketball. This Kentucky alumni has a legit to win the MVP Award.

Former Wildcat star Shai Gilgeous-Alexander currently has the third-best odds to win the MVP Award at +300. Gilgeous-Alexander's odds are only behind Nikola Jokic (+240) and Joel Embiid (+260). The former Wildcat is currently averaging 31 points a game to go with 5.7 rebounds, 6.3 assists, and 2.3 steals. Gilgeous-Alexander's Oklahoma City Thunder currently have a 27-13 record and are tied for second in the Western Conference behind the Minnesota Timberwolves. If Gilgeous-Alexander can lead this young Thunder team to a top seed in the playoffs, it would be a massive boost for his MVP resume.

Nick Crain of Forbes has this to say about Gilgeous-Alexander, "With that in mind, year six has elevated his status around the league to new heights. While he certainly established himself as one of the top guards in the NBA last season, he’s making his case as being one of the best players in the entire league during the 2023-24 campaign."

Gilgeous-Alexander is one of the young stars in the NBA, and at only 25 years old, he could be the face of the league if he keeps playing like this for the next five years.
