4-Star CB Aaron Scott Jr Includes Kentucky in Top 12 Schools
The 2024 recruiting trail has witnessed Kentucky focusing on trying to lock down offensive line talent early, but some help in the secondary wouldn't hurt. That's certainly something that cornerback Aaron Scott Jr would provide.
Currently ranked as the No. 43 player and No. 4 CB in the 2024 class, Scott is also the No. 1 player in the state of Ohio, coming out of Springfield High School in Springfield. On Easter Sunday, the 5-foot-11.5, 165-pounder announced his top 12 schools in his recruitment, including Kentucky:
- Oregon
- USC
- Ohio State
- Michigan
- Florida State
- Penn State
- Notre Dame
- Pittsburgh
- Kentucky
- Louisville
- Oklahoma
- Tennessee
While 12 schools are "in the running," Ohio State appears to be a heavy favorite. Scott has taken four unofficial visits to Columbus and has an OV lined up in June. He's also taken a pair of unofficials to Michigan, Tennessee, Notre Dame and Penn State. Vince Marrow is leading the recruitment for Kentucky.
247Sports' National Scouting Analyst Gabe Brooks see's Scott as a DB with the potential to eventually play on Sundays:
"Adequate height with good length verified entering junior season. Looks and plays larger than that verified size.
Length manifests in ball production. Not only picked off five passes as a junior, but got his hands on everything else.
Disruptive and consistently competitive at the catch point. Good ball skills as evidenced by counting stats.
Hyper-competitive nature you like to see on the outside. Plays aware with obvious anticipatory instincts. Has shown competency in a variety of coverages and has also played over the top on occasion.
Excellent athletic profile with basketball and limited track and field experience. Punching it off the bounce as a one-foot jumper in sophomore hoops campaign.
Terrific functional athlete whose verified markers in testing and track suggest room for improvement in overall explosiveness, including top-end gear. Strong in coverage but needs to add mass and strength as a tackler to be more consistent in that department.
Bona fide high-major defensive back prospect who can probably live at corner in the long run, but may also provide roster value as a secondary chameleon. Potential to become a multi-year impact player with NFL Draft upside."
Kentucky may have a tie to Scott, as freshman wide receiver Anthony Brown also hails from Springfield. It appears to be a longshot, but the Cats are contending for one of the top defensive backs in the 2024 class.
