5-Star Center Flory Bidunga Working to Schedule Visit to Kentucky
Kentucky has taken a few losses thus far in the 2024 recruiting class, a group that's considered by many to be down in overall talent, in comparison to recent years. The Wildcats and coach John Calipari have started to turn up the heat as of late on the trail, however.
Calipari and his assistants have been making the rounds at AAU circuits after checking in on certain schools. One of the players that has clearly become a priority for UK is 5-star center Flory Bidunga.
The No. 3 overall player in the class, per the On3 Consensus, was in attendance at the second stop of the Adidas 3SSB Circuit over the weekend with Indiana Elite and proceeded to give reporters an update on his recruitment, with Kentucky being one of the main talking points.
Coming out of Kokomo High School in Indiana, Bidunga has taken official visits to Auburn, Indiana and Florida, with a trip to Michigan set for later in May. In a report from 247Sports' Travis Branham, Kentucky could make that list this summer.
"(Calipari) came with coach Orlando (Antigua), we talked. It (the visit) is coming soon, we are working on a day probably in June," Bidunga told Branham.
Calipari was in Kokomo in the middle of April to see the center in action, the second time in the span of a month he had made contact with the coveted prospect. The Wildcats didn't appear to have much stock in the recruiting battle just a few weeks ago, but they could be gaining some ground.
Bidunga hails from Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of the Congo, the same country as Kentucky superstar Oscar Tshiebwe. Kentucky offered back in October. Cincinnati has been the favored landing spot for some time. Bidunga told On3's Joe Tipton that he still doesn't have a timetable for making a decision.
As the summer approaches, look for Calipari and Co. to do whatever they can to lure the big man to the Bluegrass.
