Crystal Ball Pick Puts Kentucky as Favorites to Land 4-Star '24 Center Somto Cyril

Cyril is in Lexington for an official visit and could reclassify to 2023.

Kentucky basketball has made quick moves on the recruiting trail, more out of a necessity to add players and depth than anything.

As 3-star names have popped up, the needle hasn't been moved much for Big Blue Nation. That's not the case with 4-star center Somto Cyril, however. Currently the No. 36 player and No. 4 center in the 2024 class (On3 Consensus), there are rumblings that a reclassification to the '23 class could become a reality.

The Wildcats and coach John Calipari are currently welcoming the Enugu, Nigeria native to Lexington for a visit, which began on Thursday. Nearly immediately after the visit began, 247Sports' Travis Branham placed a crystal ball prediction for Cyril to land at Kentucky.

Cyril played alongside incoming UK point guard Rob Dillingham for Overtime Elite's Cold Hearts. He's nicknamed "Baby Shaq" and clearly possesses the physical presence to play college basketball in 2023. He took an unofficial visit to UK back in October 2021. He's taken OV's to Cincinnati (September 2022), Indiana (November 2022), Providence (April 2023) and now Kentucky.

With the Wildcats already welcoming the No. 1 recruiting class in the country thanks to five high-ranked freshmen, as well as the new recruitment of 3-stars Jordan Burks and Joey Hart, Cyril could make an eighth freshman on the Wildcat roster, if Calipari is able to land all three.

The return of veteran shooing guard Antonio Reeves continues to look less and less likely, leaving sophomores Adou Thiero and Ugonna Onyenso as the "elder statesmen" of the roster, along with walk-on-turned scholarship combo Brennan Canada.

Calipari has been known for playing with freshmen, but the potential 2023-24 roster could take things to a whole new level.
