Game Notes

Louisville

  • The Cards had their four-game winning streak snapped with a tough 31-16 loss at Clemson. It was the eighth-straight loss against the Tigers and the fourth at Memorial Stadium.
  • Wide receiver Tyler Hudson caught 11 passes for 163 yards — his fourth 100-yard game at Louisville. His 11 receptions were the most since Harry Douglas caught 12 passes against Syracuse during the 2007 season.
  • Hudson needs 134 yards in his final two games to become the seventh different player to record 1,000 yards in a season, marking the 10th time a player accomplished such a feat.
  • Quarterback Brock Domann filled in for the injured Malik Cunningham in the second half and went 13-for-23 for 175 yards and a touchdown pass on the final play to Braden Smith. Cunningham completed 10-of-13 passes for 75 yards before leaving after half.
  • Running back Jawhar Jordan rushed 11 times for 73 yards and true freshman Maurice Turner added 36 yards on two carries. The Cards averaged 5.0 yards per carry versus one of the top rush defenses in the country.
  • Linebacker Momo Sanogo recorded a career high 14 tackles, 2.0 tackles for loss, 1.0 sacks and recovered a fumble in the loss.
  • Linebacker Yasir Abdullah moved up to fourth all time in forced fumbles in a season with four after recording two more in the loss to Clemson. He has forced eight in his career, which is tied for the fourth-most in school history.
  • Linebacker Momo Sanogo has recorded 27 tackles over the last two games to remain the team leader with 74 tackles. He recorded a career best 14 stops versus Clemson after being credited with 13 in the win over James Madison.
  • The Cardinals are 59-43-1 all-time on Senior Day. Louisville has won six of its last nine final home games after last season’s loss to Kentucky at Cardinal Stadium. Louisville is 15-9 on Senior Day at Cardinal Stadium and are 4-0 versus ACC opponents.
  • The UofL defense allowed one third-quarter touchdown for the first time since Virginia scored one on Oct. 8 — a span of three games. The Cardinals are outscoring the opposition 152-82 in the second half of games this season.
  • One of the top rushing teams in the country this season, the Cardinals are averaging 171.5 yards rushing in their four losses and 213.2 yards per game in their six wins.
  • After forcing three turnovers versus Clemson, the Cardinals forced at least three turnovers in seven games this season, including eight against Wake Forest.
  • The Cards have forced 19 turnovers in their six wins this year.
  • After being limited to a season low one sack versus James Madison, the Cards sacked Clemson twice — the ninth game this year with at least two sacks.

NC State

  • NC State tied a school record for consecutive home wins before dropping last week’s game vs. Boston College. The Nov. 5 win over Wake Forest was NC State’s 16th in a row at home, tying the mark under head coach Lou Holtz from 1972-75. It was the sixth-best active home winning streak in the FBS.
  • MJ Morris became the 14th different player to start at quarterback from the Wolfpack when he got the nod in the win against Wake Forest. Of those 14, he is one of only two to start a game as a true freshman.
  • Cornerback Aydan White is now tied for 10th among Power 5 players in interceptions with four this season - the second-best mark in the ACC. His latest came in the win over Wake Forest.
  • NC State enters Game 10 with one of the stingiest defenses in the FBS. The Wolfpack is allowing just 18.1 points per game - a mark that leads the ACC and ranks 13th in the FBS.
  • Kicker Christopher Dunn continues to hold the nation’s longest streak for consecutive field goals made with 20. That’s the second-longest streak in school history.
  • WR Thayer Thomas hauled in eight touchdown catches last season and four in 2022 - giving him 24 for his career. That mark trails Torry Holt’s career mark by seven.
  • The Wolfpack has definitely spread the ball around this season. Twenty different players have caught passes for the Wolfpack this season.
  • Six different Wolfpack players have scored their first career touchdowns this season. Demie Sumo-Karngbaye has four total TDs to lead the team, even though this is his first year scoring. Other first-timers include: WR Keyon Lesane, WR Porter Rooks, WR Jalen Coit, TE Cedd Seabrough, and RB Delbert Mimms.
  • NC State definitely boasts one of the most talented linebacking corps in the country, but also one of the most experienced. The Wolfpack trio of Isaiah Moore (MLB), Drake Thomas (SLB) and Payton Wilson (WLB) have combined to post some pretty impressive numbers: 6,619 plays, 824 tackles, 103.5 tackles for loss and 32.0 sacks.
  • NC State has intercepted 16 passes in 2022 - a mark that leads the ACC and ranks third in the FBS. The last time the Wolfpack had as many multi-interception games was in 2011 - the year NC State led the nation and set a school record with 27 INTs in 13 games.
