Christian Laettner Gives Miami's Jordan Miller Props
During the 1992 NCAA Final Four, Duke's Christian Laettner hit a last-second shot near the foul line to stun Kentucky 104-103 in overtime.
It's one of the greatest shots and plays in NCAA Tournament and Final Four history. The pass was from another famous player, Grant Hill. Amazingly, Hill was not even a starter for Duke yet, but he did score 10 points, grabbed 11 boards and had 7 assists.
Nice off the bench player, huh?
After the pass from Hill to Laettner ended the contest, that also allowed for an incredible statistic. Laettner went 9 for 9 from the field, as well as 10 for 10 from the foul line. 19 makes from 19 total shots was incredible, especially against a talented team like UK.
The victory by the Blue Devils helped propel them to the final game where they defeated Michigan 71-51, giving Duke back-to-back national championships. As for Laettner, he has company with how he performed against UK.
Miami's Jordan Miller just had a similar performance versus Texas when he went 7 for 7 from the field, and 13 of 13 from the charity stripe. 20 out of 20, one more than Laettner from 31 years prior.
The excellent performance from Miller did not go unnoticed from Laettner either.
It was great that the former Blue Devil and NCAA Tournament legend gave a shout out to the current Cane, as well as supporting the ACC. The NCAA Tournament has been and continues to be a special opportunity for athletes to showcase their best efforts. That was a nice gesture by Laettner.
Overall, it's also important to note that both of these ball players deserve credit for entertaining basketball fans, especially with games like the ones Laettner and Miller both enjoyed.
