After defeating the Villanova Wildcats 70-65, the Miami Hurricanes women’s basketball team went against one of the nation's best teams and players to reach the Elite 8.

Maddy Siegrist, the Villanova senior forward that just went for 31 points and 13 rebounds versus Miami. She might be the best player the Hurricanes face all season.

Then again, here comes another talented post player and one that’s not going to be any easier to defend, LSU Tiger Angel Reese.

Through the first 33 games for LSU and Reese, the redshirt sophomore transfer from Maryland has averaged 23.5 points, 15.6 rebounds, 2.2 assists, and 1.6 blocks.

Further, Reese has been a quality scorer without taking a plethora of bad shots; she’s shot 53.5% from the floor.

Here’s what’s been interesting with studying her film as testimony, the 6-foot-3 forward often starts her scoring move from outside the paint. Facing up, she’s shown an excellent first step to gain an advantage versus defenders and then utilized a bevy of shot fakes and moves to get her shot off and into the basket.

Here’s a look at some of the best games from the first team All-American selection by the Associated Press and U.S. Basketball Writers Association.

On Feb. 26 versus Mississippi State, Reese truly went off as she scored 23 points and grabbed 26 rebounds. Against Hawaii on March 14, she was at it again with 34 points and 15 boards. Against a talented Michigan team on March 19, Reese scored 25 and grabbed 24 more rebounds.

In short, she’s been dominant. It will be interesting to see how Miami head coach Katie Meier and her Lady Hurricanes attempt to slow down Reese.

Double teaming her in the post seems logical. So does changing up which Miami post players take their chances at defending her one-on-one. Lola Pendande, Destiny Harden and Lazaria Spearman will all likely be matched up with Reese during different junctures of the game.

If nothing else, Miami has played against Siegrist so they have experience at going against a truly elite scoring forward.

The Final 8 matchup will take place between Miami and LSU at 7 p.m. ET on ESPN. The game will take place at Bon Secours Wellness Arena in Greenville, S.C.
