With Jordan Miller and Isaiah Wong both committed to entering the NBA Draft process and ending their collegiate careers, it was believed they'd be the only Hurricanes to do so this offseason.

However in shocking fashion, Miami Hurricanes standout big Norchad Omier announces via Instagram that he'll be entering his name into consideration for the 2023 NBA Draft.

Omier, listed as a 6-foot-7 forward, established himself in Coral Gables this season as one of the most impactful bigs in all of college basketball. He posted averages of 13.1 points and 10.0 rebounds per contest and helped lead the team to their first ever Final Four appearance, falling to the eventual National Champions in the UConn Huskies.

Omier transferred over from Arkansas State, and immediately showed that he is one of the best rebounders in the nation and earning the respect of many. Alongside fellow transfer Nijel Pack, the two made instant impacts in their first seasons.

With the news of Omier entering his name into draft consideration, it puts the immediate future of the program into question. If Omier were to end up going professional, it would leave Coach Jim Larrañaga with just Pack and Wooga Poplar as his returning starters.

In addition to that, while the transfer portal is still alive but a lot of top talent have already found homes for the upcoming campaign.

If Omier leaves and no replacement is found through the portal, it would be expected that 2023 recruit Michael Nwoko would take on a larger role.

With the draft still months away on June 22nd, it will be a while before we know the final verdict from Omier.
