How NFL Canes Performed During The 2023 Season

Taking A Look At Some Of The Top Performing Pro Canes And How They Did Statistically
In this story:

While many fans are focused on how the University of Miami is doing in the ACC, the Hurricanes have plenty of representation across the NFL. With the 13th most drafted players amongst collegiate football, there are always Hurricanes making an impact in the pros.

This year saw a mix of established and young Hurricanes helping win their teams' games. This is how they all did:

Calais Campbell, Atlanta Falcons:

2023 Stats: 56 total tackles, 6.5 sacks, 10 tackles for loss, one forced fumble, one pass defended and a safety

After the 2022 season, many thought Campbell would retire, but he decided to return for another season to chase that 100-sack milestone. Entering the season just needing one sack, he finished the season with 6.5 sacks for the Atlanta Falcons. That is impressive at 37 years old.

Jimmy Graham, New Orleans Saints:

2023 Stats: six receptions, 39 yards and four touchdowns

After taking the 2022 season off, Graham returned to New Orleans where he started his career and became a household name. Now 37, don't be surprised if this was the last of Graham in the NFL.

Denzel Perryman, Houston Texans:

2023 Stats: 76 total tackles, 0.5 sacks, three passes defended, and six tackles for loss

In twelve games of action, Perryman has provided the Texans with veteran leadership at the position as they'll head into Wild Card Weekend to play host to the Cleveland Browns.

Jon Feliciano, San Francisco 49ers:

Starting seven games on the offensive line for the NFC's number-one seed, Feliciano had an 81.2 PFF grade and just two penalties during the season. San Francisco is the odds-on favorite to win Super Bowl 58.

David Njoku, Cleveland Browns:

2023 Stats: 123 targets, 81 receptions, 882 yards and six touchdowns

Thanks in large part to Joe Flacco, Njoku finished the season with three of his last four games being over 90 yards receiving. A career season for the seventh-year tight end, Njoku and the Browns will travel to take on the Texans this weekend.

Rayshawn Jenkins, Jacksonville Jaguars:

2023 Stats: 101 total tackles, nine passes defended, two interceptions, seven tackles for loss and a sack

After a breakout season in 2022, Jenkins came out again in 2023 and put up similar stats. Unfortunately, his Jaguars crumbled at the end of the season, but Jenkins will head into 2024 in a contract year looking to get paid that offseason.

Braxton Berrios, Miami Dolphins:

2023 Stats: 33 targets, 27 receptions, 238 yards and a touchdown

In his first season back in Miami since his college days, Berrios was the team's fifth-leading receiver in addition to being the primary punt and kick returner. Coach Mike McDaniel still has a lot in Berrios to tap into, as the 2021 First Team All-Pro has a lot of tricks in his bag.

K.J. Osborn, Minnesota Vikings:

2023 Stats: 75 targets, 48 receptions, 540 yards and three touchdowns

Osborn was the team's fourth leading receiver behind a talented trio of pass catchers. Unfortunately, since his breakout season in 2021, Osborn has regressed statistically in yards and touchdowns. He'll be a free agent. Expect him to explore his options.

Gregory Rousseau, Buffalo Bills:

2023 Stats: 42 total tackles, 12 tackles for loss, five sacks, four passes defended and one forced fumble

Rousseau followed up his rookie season with eight sacks in 13 games in 2022 but saw a drop in production in his third season. Finishing just fifth on the team in sacks, he had just one sack in the last seven games. Rousseau still gets a chance to make an impact as the Bills play host to the Steelers this weekend.

Jaelan Phillips, Miami Dolphins:

2023 Stats: 43 total tackles, seven tackles for loss, 6.5 sacks, two passes defended and one interception

Phillips suffered a torn Achilles that ended his season after just eight games. On pace for a career season, Phillips will undergo a long recovery process as he hopes to be ready for the 2024 season. The Dolphins have yet to make their decision on Phillips' fifth-year option.

Brevin Jordan, Houston Texans:

2023 Stats: 21 targets, 17 receptions, 219 yards and two touchdowns

Jordan was on the path to be the team's starting tight end before they opted to sign former Dallas Cowboy Dalton Schultz in free agency. However, Jordan still made an impact on a Texans team that won the AFC South.

Tyrique Stevenson, Chicago Bears:

2023 Stats: 86 total tackles, 16 passes defended, four interceptions and two forced fumbles

Stevenson finished his rookie campaign tied for first in passes defended and first in interceptions amongst rookies. Starting in all of his 16 games this season, PFF shows the Stevenson has a lot to work on this offseason, as he was the second-most targeted corner and allowed the second most receptions.

Will Mallory, Indianapolis Colts:

2023 Stats: 26 targets, 18 receptions and 207 yards

From a fifth-round pick to being the fifth leading receiver on the Colts, Mallory showed this season he could be the team's future option at the tight end position. Despite starting just two games, he out-targeted veteran tight end Mo Alie-Cox. If Mallory can take a jump next season, he's got a great chance to be the starting tight end in the future.

Lou Hedley, New Orleans Saints:

2023 Stats: 75 punts, 43 yards/punt, long of 62, 31 punts inside the 20

After winning the starting job in camp, the 30-year-old rookie finished in the top five for punts inside of the 20. While not a glamorous position, Hedley captured the attention of fans with his story and canvas of tattoos.
