Respect: Looking Back At Mario Cristobal's FSU Postgame Press Conference
Mario Cristobal's postgame FSU press conference had a different tone, didn't it? As the man who now leads the Miami Hurricanes and has played and coached in a total of 12 of these rivalry games with the Florida State Seminoles, he was ticked off about the officiating, and how everything went down.
After going back and reviewing it, hard not to give him props. Here are two particular quotes that should catch a Miami fan's attention. The first one was straight to the point and also quite important.
"No one ever stopped battling."
Cristobal was correct. That Miami team absolutely kept getting after it, no matter the score. A lot of teams would have folded with FSU leading 27-13 and true freshman Emory Williams being the man behind center for the Canes.
Further, he backed up his team, which was the right thing to do.
Here's another interesting quote from Cristobal from just past the 8-minute mark of his press conference.
"We didn't come here for a consolation prize and the gap is closed. A lot of improvement.
"Certainly a lot of development and that's certainly, you know, it fires you up. We've got to keep going, gotta keep working, we got to keep going because our guys in there understand that when as we put it more and more together. It's going to be really hard to stop us."
Seeing the fire from Cristobal about beating Miami's arch-rival and what it means to him, that's important. He also gave credence to the point about how Miami is building a program. It's not just a flash in the pan.
While not earth-shattering comments, Miami fans really should think long and hard about what Cristobal had to say. He's a passionate man and truly loves The U.
Going to be interesting to see what Cristobal says during today's press conference and after the Louisville game.
