The Miami Hurricanes went through a tough 2022 season in which the offensive line was in flux. Moving to the 2023 season, the Hurricanes are a completely different unit up front.

After allowing 36 sacks in 2022, Miami is at only 8 sacks allowed through six games this season. That’s on pace to cut the total down by more than half.

Further, Miami’s offense has averaged 37.7 points per game this year. In 2022, it was at 23.6. Those were just some of the numbers that led to the Hurricanes being a part of mid-season Joe Moore Award honor roll.

From the Joe Moore Award website, here were areas the award looked to represent:

The Joe Moore Award for the Most Outstanding Offensive Line Unit annually recognizes the toughest, most physical offensive line in the country, making it the only major college football award to honor a unit or group.

Congratulations to every Miami offensive lineman, as well as offensive line coach Alex Mirabal and the offensive line staff. The Canes have vastly improved up front and that’s helped many other facets of the team overall. Their progress has also been a great sign for the future of Miami football.
